# Maintain Reliable Archive Performance with Request Rate Limits

Archive enforces request rate limits for Data Query and Unarchive operations to maintain system stability and performance. If you exceed a limit, the system returns status code 429 and requires you to wait before retrying.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions. These limits apply to both Archive 2.0 (Apex) and the Archive managed package (SDK).

**When:** Effective Summer '26

**Why:** Archive enforces these rate limits to maintain system stability:

- **Apex Data Query:** 1,000 requests per minute, 30,000 requests per hour, 100,000 requests per day (per org). Wait until the next interval if you hit a limit.
- **Apex Unarchive:** 50 requests per hour (per org). Wait 1 hour before retrying if you hit this limit.

**How:** These limits are automatically enforced. When designing integrations, handle rate limit responses by implementing retry logic with appropriate wait times.
