# Map Prompt Templates to MCP Server Tools

Use API Catalog to map prompt templates to tools in your custom Salesforce MCP servers. These tools make your prompt templates available through Salesforce-hosted MCP servers to external clients like Claude or ChatGPT.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Developer, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions.

**When:** This feature is generally available in June 2026.

**How:** In Setup, in API Catalog MCP Servers, select the **Salesforce** tab. Select a custom MCP server, and make sure that you deactivate it if it’s active. Click **Add Server Assets**, and then select **Add Tools**. Select **Prompts**, and then select a prompt template. After you save, edit the tools to tailor them to your needs.
