# Add Tools from Salesforce-hosted MCP Servers to Your Agents

Agents can now use tools from MCP servers hosted on Salesforce. Authentication occurs in the context of the Salesforce user through an internal credential. Each agent calls the MCP tools with its own user's permissions. Previously, agents were able to get tools only from third-party MCP servers set up in the Agentforce Registry.

Note This feature supports both standard (Salesforce-authored) and custom MCP servers hosted on Salesforce.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions with Foundations or Agentforce 1 Editions.

**When:** This feature is available on a rolling basis starting the week of August 31, 2026.

**How:** In API Catalog, add the Salesforce-hosted MCP server (standard or custom), add the tools you want, and activate it. See [Manage Salesforce Hosted MCP Servers in API Catalog](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.api_catalog_manage_salesforce_hosted_mcp_servers.htm&type=5&language=en_US).

In Agentforce Registry, select **New** and add the Salesforce-hosted MCP server. Next, [allowlist](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_mcp_registration_manage_allowlist.htm&type=5&language=en_US) the tools you want Agentforce to use. Select from the tools that you added in API Catalog.

Finally, in Agentforce Builder, [add those actions to a subagent from the assets list](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ai.agent_mcp_tool_action_add.htm&type=5&language=en_US), the same way you add any other Salesforce action.
