Review De-Duplication Activity for Unified WhatsApp

New logic ensures that you contact the most recently added individual in a Unified WhatsApp channel, and new error codes explain why other duplicate individuals weren’t contacted. Previously, there wasn’t logic to choose an Individual, and there weren’t error codes to explain why we made the choice.

Where: This change applies to Unified WhatsApp in Enterprise and Unlimited editions for Marketing Cloud Engagement Growth and Advanced Editions.

Why: If a Unified Individual has multiple associated individuals, each with the same phone number, we only contact one Individual. We chose the latest Individual that was created with that phone number.

We introduced three new error codes to help explain why an individual wasn’t contacted.

  • SF-3025 - The message wasn't sent because the recipient's phone number wasn't a valid E.164 number. Correct the phone number and try again.
  • SF-3045 - The message wasn't sent because the recipient's phone number is associated with a different individual ID.
  • SF-3035 - The message wasn't sent because a contact record wasn't found.

How: To view the Individuals associated with a Unified Individual, and to see error messages explaining which Individuals were or weren’t contacted, create a Data Cloud Data Explorer view. For a Data Lake Object view, add the Error Code and Not Sent Reason columns. For a Data Model Object view, add the Messaging Error Code and Error Message columns.
