Admins in Tableau Next can define a secure, approved list of semantic models for each analytics agent that uses the pre-built Data Analysis subagent to power the Concierge: Analytics Q&A experience. Analysts can view the approved list of semantic models for an agent, but can't modify the list.
Agent Scoping controls which semantic models can be searched by an analytics agent when a user asks a question using Concierge with no dashboard or metric context. Contextless situations include when Concierge is being used in Slack or embedded in a page with no Tableau Next assets. The list of approved semantic models defined for an agent is called a fallback list.
When a user asks questions in Concierge with a dashboard or metric context, the agent uses the semantic models associated with the dashboard or metric instead of the fallback list of approved models.
Where: This change applies to Tableau Next in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions.
When: Available starting in April 2026.
How: In Tableau Next, admins can select Agent Scoping, select an active agent, and add semantic models from the same org to create a fallback list of semantic models for contextless surfaces.
