# Simplify How Users Access the Shield App

If your users have the required permissions to access either Data Detect, Event Monitoring, or Platform Encryption, then they can view the Shield app by default. Previously, the View Shield App Pages user permission was required to view the app. Now, that permission is required only for users who lack other Shield-related access privileges.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions. Access to the Shield app requires either the Salesforce Shield, Event Monitoring, Field Audit Trail, Data Detect, or Shield Platform Encryption add-on license.
