# Prepare for Email to Become the Default Login Experience

Starting in September, email-based login becomes the default login experience for the UI of login.salesforce.com and test.salesforce.com. This update creates a unified login process and simplifies the experience for your users. While your users can still choose to log in with a username and password, prepare them for email to appear as the primary option.

**Where:** This change applies to the UI login experience on [login.salesforce.com](https://login.salesforce.com) and [test.salesforce.com](http://test.salesforce.com). This doesn't impact the My Domain login experience.

**When:** This feature isn’t part of the initial Spring '26 release and may be included at a later date. This change rolls out gradually starting in September.

**Who:** This feature is available to users who log in through the UI of [login.salesforce.com](http://login.salesforce.com) or [test.salesforce.com](http://test.salesforce.com). The log in with email experience isn’t available for users with a shared email account or users who can’t access emails sent to their email address.

**How:** Salesforce automatically updates the login pages for [login.salesforce.com](https://login.salesforce.com) and [test.salesforce.com](http://test.salesforce.com) to the email-based login experience. To use a traditional username and password, your users click **Login with Username** on the login page. If you don’t require users to log in using My Domain, there is no option to opt out of this default experience on [login.salesforce.com](http://login.salesforce.com) or [test.salesforce.com](http://test.salesforce.com). If you have registered Passkeys, they will continue to be supported in the email and username login experiences.
