Salesforce Contracts

Contract authors and template designers have greater control over how they structure, style, and review contract content. Improvements to section behavior, clause formatting, and profile-based access help maintain consistent layouts, protect sensitive content, and make sure that the intended users participate in internal reviews. Expanded reconciliation and token capabilities keep data accurate across contracts, line items, and related records. Large and complex documents are more responsive during editing, comparison, and check-in. Document Template migration improvements further preserve document structure and clause relationships as they move between Salesforce orgs.

  • Control Section Name Visibility When Inserting Content
Template designers and contract authors can choose whether a section name appears in the generated document. Previously, section name always appeared. They can now delete section names in the Microsoft 365 editor when they don’t want it to appear in the generated document. The section name remains visible under the Section tab in the Microsoft 365 add-in panel to manage section content.
  • Preserve Formatting When Inserting Clauses
Clauses now retain their defined indentation, line spacing, lists, fonts, and other rich text formatting defined in the clause library when inserted into a document. Previously, inserting clauses into a Microsoft 365 template and contract document caused the document styles to override the clause’s original formatting.
  • Assign Profile-Based Access for Sections
Control who can update sensitive content, including token values, by limiting section-level access to specific profiles. During template creation, the designer can select which profiles can edit a section for contract authoring and internal review.
  • Control Internal Reviewers Based on Users or Profiles
Contract authors can choose between a user-based or profile-based mode when initiating internal reviews. Prevent unintended edits and keep review activities focused on the appropriate participants.
  • Reconcile More Data with Expanded Data True-Up Capacity
The Microsoft 365 Word Data True-Up feature now handles more than 200 field tokens and includes support for line item tokens, improving reconciliation across contract fields and detailed line item values. Data True-Up also supports reconciling data sourced from related records, such as quotes and opportunities.
  • Review Redline Differences in a Comparison Document
Get full visibility of changes when reviewing contract versions. You can generate a comparison document that highlights added, edited, and deleted content relative to the base version. This enhancement makes it easier to understand changes introduced during redlining across contract document versions.
  • Improve Document Accuracy with Advanced Data True-Up Enhancements
Data True-Up token processing now supports nested object structures and reference fields up to one level, including related objects, such as opportunities and quotes. You can pull token values from related records rather than only from contracts, improving reconciliation accuracy for complex data. Support for reference fields on custom objects also helps keep contract data aligned with information stored across your data model.
  • Migrate Templates Across Salesforce Environments
Move Microsoft 365 document templates between Salesforce orgs while preserving clause references and section-level access controls. For example, move templates from a sandbox to a production org. This process helps maintain template integrity across orgs and environments. Before migrating templates, use a data migration tool to transfer the clause records, clause versions, and profile data to the target org. After you migrate the template, the built-in key mapping aligns the clause and profile references with the corresponding clause records in the target org.
  • Manage Document Check-In Behavior with Configurable Async Processing
Reduce latency and timeouts when checking in large documents with asynchronous processing. Check-in occurs asynchronously when a document contains more than 200 doc elements, such as sections, clauses, and tokens in the Microsoft 365 document. Async check-in is enabled by default, but you can disable it to make all check-ins run synchronously.
  • Find Content in Sections and Clauses Faster
Contract authors can navigate large documents more easily with the new search field on the Sections and Standalone Clauses tabs of the Microsoft 365 add-in. The search results update with each keystroke and show only matching items in the panel, helping you locate the right content quickly without manual scrolling. Search also expands collapsed sections when it finds relevant results.
  • Changed Connect REST API Request Bodies in Salesforce Contracts
The Content Link Load and Data Sync APIs include enhancements to reduce multiple per-field queries into a single grouped fetch request for improved performance.
