# Experience a Consistent URL Handling Journey Across Platforms

Branded apps now provide a more reliable and unified linking experience for users on both Android and iOS. We aligned URL handling logic to make sure that links, whether clicked during login or while navigating your site, behave consistently regardless of the platform.

**Where:** This change applies to Mobile Publisher for Experience Cloud apps. Setup for Mobile Publisher is available in Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions.

**Why:** Previously, Android and iOS used different logic when deciding how to open a URL. For example, Android validated only the domain of a URL, whereas iOS validated both the domain and the specific Experience Cloud site path. This inconsistency often led to Android incorrectly treating links to external sites on the same domain as Experience Cloud site URLs, causing them to open incorrectly within the app.

Also, Android's handling of unconfigured login URLs sometimes caused failures during multi-factor authentication (MFA) because intermediate authentication URLs weren’t recognized. These updates bring Android in line with the reliable behavior of iOS to prevent these disruptions.

**How:** URL handling now follows a unified precedence model for all event triggers.

- Intercepted Login URLs: If a URL is intercepted during the login process and isn’t explicitly defined in **URL Management**, it now continues to open within the login page automatically. This makes sure that intermediate authentication steps, such as MFA, work without extra configuration.
- In-App interception: Any link clicked within the app that isn't configured in **URL Management** now defaults to opening within the app on both platforms.
- Improved Path Validation: Android now validates both the domain and the specific community path, matching the iOS standard. For example, in the URL https://capricornjuices.my.site.com/capricornjuices/s/, the domain is https://capricornjuices.my.site.com, and site path is capricornjuices/s/.
