# Local Dev is Now Live Preview

To better reflect the real-time nature of component, Experience site, and Lightning app previews, Local Dev is now called Live Preview.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in all editions.

Note The Live Preview VS Code Extension for React components is a pilot or beta service that is subject to the Beta Services Terms at [Agreements - Salesforce.com](https://www.salesforce.com/company/legal/agreements/) or a written Unified Pilot Agreement if executed by Customer, and applicable terms in the [Product Terms Directory](https://ptd.salesforce.com/?_ga=2.247987783.1372150065.1709219475-629000709.1639001992). Use of this pilot or beta service is at the Customer’s sole discretion.

**Why:** As part of the renaming, you can expect changes to feature names in the Salesforce CLI and the Salesforce Extension Pack for Visual Studio Code (VS Code). You can see the same terminology changes in our documentation, including developer guides, Help topics, and Trailhead content. However, the CLI commands to run real-time previews aren’t changing.

Here’s a quick summary of the key terminology changes.

| Local Dev for Lightning apps | Lightning App Live Preview | The tool to run a live preview of a Lightning app in your browser. |
| Local Dev for Experience sites | Experience Sites Live Preview | The tool to run a live preview of an Experience site in your browser. |
| Local Dev for single components | Single Component Live Preview | The tool to run a live preview of a single component in your browser. |
| Lightning Preview (beta) | Live Preview VS Code Extension | The tool to run a live preview of a single Lightning web component or React component inside your IDE. Previewing a Lightning web component is generally available, while previewing a React component is in beta. |
