# New and Changed Lightning Web Components

Build UI easily with these new and changed components.

## New Components

These components are new.

lightning-empty-state (Beta)

Adds meaningful visuals and content to your components that show empty states. For more information, see [Display Consistent Empty State Illustrations With Theme Support (Beta)](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_lc_empty_state_illustration.htm&release=260&type=5 "Use the new lightning-empty-state component to add meaningful visuals and content to your components that show empty states. This component displays the latest Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS) empty state illustration and correctly sizes it for the container, simplifying your UI development. The SVG illustrations automatically adjust to the user's selected theme, and can adapt to dark mode in SLDS 2 themes, for a consistent look and feel across your app. The new lightning-illustration component displays the same set of illustrations without text.").

lightning-illustration (Beta)

Shows empty state illustrations without descriptive text or buttons. ## Changed Lightning Web Components

These components have changed.

lightning-combobox

This component now correctly participates in validation and form submissions. The browser can set focus on the component when it contains an invalid value and the form is validated on submission.

lightning-datatable

When the status bar appears during inline editing, the height of the table container has been reduced by 3rem when there's more content than can fit the horizontal viewport. Reducing the height of the container makes the horizontal scroller visible above the status bar in the table footer.

These accessibility behaviors are new.

- When you specify `displayReadOnlyIcon: true` and `editable:false`, the lock icon now displays inside a `<span>` element that contains `aria-label="Locked Column Name"` and `role="image"`, where `Column Name` refers to the label that you define for the column.
- The `<span>` element that contains assistive text for the lock icon has been removed.

lightning-flexcard

This attribute is new.

- `lwr`—Determines whether the component is compatible with Lightning Web Runtime (LWR) sites. Set this parameter to `true` if you want to embed your Flexcard on an LWR site.

lightning-input

The calendar on the input fields of type `date` and `datetime` have these accessibility changes.

- The `<select>` element for month and year selections now specify the `aria-describedby` attribute. The `<div>` element that specifies `role="status"` contains an empty `<div>` element. When a field-level error occurs, the element renders assistive text for screen readers.
- The `tabindex` attribute has been moved from the `<td>` elements on the calendar to the day buttons, which are inner `<span>` elements that specify `role="button"`.
- The `aria-selected`, `aria-current`, and `aria-disabled` attributes have been moved to the inner `<span>` element that specifies `role="button"`.
- The `aria-label` attribute has been added to the `<span>` element that specifies `role="button"`, which indicates `day month year, button`. For example: `8 October 2025, button`, depending on the screen reader.

Required fields of type `checkbox`, `date`, `datetime`, `time`, and `file` have these accessibility changes.

- The `<abbr>` element specifies `aria-hidden="true"`.

lightning-input-address

If the Geolocation API times out after 10 seconds, the address lookup field defaults to San Francisco, CA with a latitude of 37.790091 and longitude of -122.396848 instead of your current position. A timeout can occur due to factors such as browser security settings, network conditions, and device capabilities.

lightning-input-field

The calendar on the input field of type `date` and `datetime` has the same accessibility changes as those for `lightning-input`.

lightning-input-rich-text

The default font size is now 13, which you can also select from the font menu.

This component now supports manual image upload (developer preview).

Note Manual image upload is available as a developer preview. This feature isn’t generally available unless or until Salesforce announces its general availability in documentation or in press releases or public statements. All commands, parameters, and other features are subject to change or deprecation at any time, with or without notice. Don't implement functionality in production with these commands or tools.

This attribute is new.

- `manual-image-upload`—If present, an image is inserted in the rich text editor but not uploaded. To upload images when using this attribute, call `uploadPendingImages()`.

This method is new.

- `uploadPendingImages()`—Uploads images that you insert in the rich text editor. Returns a promise that resolves with an array of results, one per image:
    - When an image upload successfully, the results include the `imageId`, `file`, `success:true`, `downloadUrl`, and `contentVersionId`.
    - When the image upload fails, the results include the `imageId`, `file`, `success: false`, and `error`.If there are no pending images, this method returns an empty array.

These custom events are new.

- `imageupload`—The event fired when an image upload succeeds. The event detail properties include:
    - `imageId`—The image's tracking ID, which uses pending-img- followed by the timestamp that represents when the image was inserted, and a unique identifier.
    - `file`—The uploaded file, which includes the file name, size, and type.
    - `success`—Specifies `true` when an image upload is successful.
    - `downloadUrl`—The permanent URL for the uploaded image.
    - `contentVersionId`—The ContentVersion ID for the image. The ContentVersion ID is prefixed with `068`.
- `imageuploaderror`—The event fired when an image insert or upload fails. The event detail properties include:
    - `error`—The upload error message, which can be returned when an upload fails. When the image upload fails, the image continues to be available at the temporary URL until a successful upload.
    - `file`—The rejected file, which includes the file name, size, and type.
    - `imageId`—The image's tracking ID, which uses pending-img- followed by the timestamp that represents when the image was inserted, and a unique identifier. The ID is returned when an upload fails.
    - `maxSize`—The maximum file size in bytes, which is 1 MB or 1,048,576 bytes. Files exceeding this limit are not inserted into the rich text editor.
    - `reason`—The cause of the image upload error. Possible reasons are `SIZE_EXCEEDED` and `UPLOAD_FAILED`.

lightning-omniscript

This attribute is new.

- `lwr`—Determines whether the component is compatible with Lightning Web Runtime (LWR) sites. Set this parameter to `true` if you want to embed your Omniscript on an LWR site.

lightning-radio-group

A `<div>` element that specifies `role="status"` has been added to contain an empty `<div>` element on load. When a field-level error occurs, the element renders a `<span>` element with the field label as assistive text for screen readers.

lightning-select

The `<div>` element that specifies `role="status"` now contains an empty `<div>` element on load. When a field-level error occurs, the element renders a `<span>` element with the field label as assistive text for screen readers.

lightning-tree

The chevron icon next to the tree item now uses the bare variant and displays in blue.

lightning-tree-grid

After you press the Right Arrow key on a row to expand the row, the subsequent Right Arrow key press now focuses on the checkbox column, if the column isn't hidden.
