# Define Object-Based Custom Lightning Types with JSON Schemas

Create LightningTypeBundle metadata to define data structures by using JSON Schema. Build flexible, object-based types for use in Experience Builder, Prompt Builder, and other supported Salesforce applications. Define schemas directly in the metadata to simplify development and deployment.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

**When:** This feature is available on a rolling basis starting the week of February 9, 2026.

**How:** When you create a LightningTypeBundle component, use the schema.json file to specify the properties. Ensure this file doesn’t reference an Apex class via the `lightning:type` keyword when you define the structure manually.
