Export and Import Translated Files with Ease

Reduce metadata translation file size and complexity with export filters. Now, you can filter metadata translation files for export from the Translation Workbench when you select metadata components and date ranges. To improve the import experience, when you import translated files that contain invalid records, the valid records are imported.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in all editions.

Who: To export metadata files from the Translation Workbench, admins and developers need the Manage Translation and Create Documents permissions.

Why: Filtering provides granular control, helps create smaller, more efficient translation packages, and you can create highly precise translation files. For example, you can limit the export to only records modified since a specific date. Or, you can focus on recently changed items when you define a date range based on the source’s last modified date.

When you import translated files that contain invalid records, the valid records are imported. All errors are reported and the error report is a link to a .zip archive. Previously, only up to 50 errors were reported, there was complete failure or success, and the error report was available as an email attachment.

How: To create files for your translators that contain your Salesforce org’s translatable metadata, from Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Export, and then select Export. If data translation is enabled, select the Metadata translation type. Then filter by Salesforce Setup components or by modification date.
