When you view a record, read-only checkboxes no longer specify the
disabled attribute, so screen readers can now announce the state and value of
the checkboxes. Read-only checkboxes now display with hover text "True" or "False".
Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience.
Why: Meeting accessibility standards helps your UI support all of your users.
How: In Lightning Experience, the change applies to record pages that use LWC. When you view a record, fields and checkboxes are read-only.
A read-only checkbox on a record page displays these behaviors.
- If selected, a read-only checkbox displays a gray checkmark
only. Previously, a read-only checkbox that's selected displays a checkmark enclosed in
a disabled gray checkbox. - If not selected, a read-only checkbox displays as an empty checkbox with a dotted icon
. Previously, a read-only checkbox that's not selected displays a disabled gray
checkbox. - If required, a read-only checkbox displays without an asterisk because it can’t be checked or unchecked.
On a list view, checkboxes in a column also display with the updated styling.
Note Record pages that use Aura components, such as the record pages for Campaign and Task,
continue to display read-only checkboxes with a gray border when selected
and when not selected
.
