# Deploy Agentforce to Any Channel with Custom Connections

Deliver engaging and intuitive Agentforce experiences on your unique business channels with secure, metadata-based custom connections. Help your agents structure multimedia responses by defining connection metadata that’s tailored to your channel.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions with Foundations or Agentforce 1 editions.

**When:** This change is available starting the week of May 4, 2026.

**How:** Before you begin, make sure that you can communicate with an agent through the Agent API. Also, create an external client app that integrates your channel with Salesforce.

To create a custom connection, create a package that declares the AiSurface, AiResponseFormat types, GenAiPlannerBundle metadata types. Then define an AiSurface and at least one AiResponseFormat for your channel.

To deploy the custom connection, add it to GenAiPlannerBundle and then deploy the metadata by using the Salesforce CLI. Test your custom connection by starting a session through the Agent API.
