# Enhance DevOps Center Security with External Client Apps

Use external client apps to configure and manage single sign-on (SSO) and OAuth authorization for DevOps Center. DevOps Center is transitioning from connected apps to improve security. From Spring’ 26, when installing DevOps Center in a new org, you now create an external client app instead of a connected app.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Professional (API access required), Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions. 

**Who:** To create local external client apps, you need the Create, Edit, and Delete External Client Apps permission.

**Why:** This change aligns with updated security standards in Salesforce. Existing customers with configured connected apps aren't affected by this change, and their current DevOps Center continues to function.
