Simplify Testing with a Default Domain (Generally Available)

Accelerate time to market by using a preconfigured, Salesforce-managed default hostname for testing in development, staging, and production environments. The default domain, which is provisioned when you create a realm, has embedded CDN capabilities, eliminating the need to manually configure DNS settings. To maintain security, development and staging instances require user credentials. Production instances have a Block All firewall rule applied by default. Configure Allow rules to grant access.

Note
Note If you don’t have a vanity domain configured for your Production instance, the Block All rule causes issues with Page Designer and Preview functions. To ensure these functions work as expected, configure a vanity hostname or create a custom firewall rule to allow specific IPs or User Agents in the Default zone.

Where: This change applies to B2C Commerce.

When: This feature, originally scheduled for 26.3, is now scheduled for release in all realms by May 29, 2026.

How: By default, eCommerce, Business Manager, Storefront, Preview, and Toolkit traffic routes to the default domain. To override this routing, configure a vanity hostname in your aliases file (Merchant Tools | SEO & Discoverability | Aliases). A vanity domain defined in the aliases file is prioritized, with the default domain used as a fallback only when no vanity hostname is configured.
