# Control Content Eligibility with eCDN Cache Rules

Customize caching eligibility for your content beyond default file extensions by using eCDN cache rules. Cache rules allow resources like HTML, JSON, and XML to become eligible for caching based on specific request attributes. By defining rules for URI paths, cookies, and headers, you improve cache hit ratios and enable advanced cache purging capabilities.

**Where:** This change applies to B2C Commerce.

**How:** Define cache rules by using the CDN Zones API to match specific GET requests based on host names, paths, or HTTP headers. Ensure your origin server sends appropriate Cache-Control headers, such as public with a max-age greater than zero, as these rules make content eligible for caching but don’t override origin headers.
