# Salesforce CMS

Previously known as Sidebar Extensions, Extensions in CMS have an improved development workflow. Build extensions to add more productivity tools to your CMS content workflow, such as third-party generative AI tools or tone and grammar editors. When you work with external content providers, you can now choose which providers are available to your workspace and where to save files from these systems.

- **[Create Content More Efficiently by Using Improved Extensions in Salesforce CMS](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_cms_extensions.htm&release=260&type=5)**
Add more productivity features to your content workflow, such as third-party generative AI tools, tone and grammar editors, and translators with Extensions in CMS. Formerly known as Sidebar Extensions, Extensions now appear in a floating panel in the content editor. Use the new development workflow to build more complex extensions for specific content types, and customize the size and behavior of the floating panel.
- **[Take Control of Assets from External Content Providers](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_cms_external_providers.htm&release=260&type=5)**
Several new settings make it easier to manage external assets in an enhanced CMS workspace. Choose which providers are available to your workspace for greater administrative control, and specify where to save the files. Previously, you could only save external assets directly in the workspace, but now you can choose your preferred folder.
- **[Use Data Model Objects for CMS Content](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_cms_data_model_objects.htm&release=260&type=5)**
To support experiences driven by content metadata, use content-related data model objects (DMOs). Ingest content metadata from Salesforce CMS, a DAM system, or an external CMS into Data 360.
- **[Use the CMS Base (Beta) Data Kit to Ingest Content into Data 360](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_cms_base_data_kit_beta.htm&release=260&type=5)**
To support experiences that are driven by content metadata, such as semantic search for content, deploy the new CMS Base (Beta) data kit. When you use this data kit, Data 360 can ingest content metadata from Salesforce CMS. The data model objects (DMOs) released in Spring ’26 are available in Data 360 after you install the data kit.
