# Apply Credit Memos and Payments Automatically Based on Rules

Prevent revenue leakage, improve customer trust, and reduce the manual effort required for cash reconciliation with rule-based application of credit and payments. Prioritize applying either credits or payments to settle the invoices of customer accounts. Specify allocation rules in an order of your choice to settle the invoices of your account. Use the allocation rules to match invoices by the invoice ID or invoice balance, or prioritize oldest invoices or the ones with the highest balances.

**Where:** This change applies to Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions of Agentforce Revenue Management, formerly Revenue Cloud, with the Revenue Cloud Billing license.

**Who:** To apply credits and payments to settle invoices, you need the Billing Admin permission set.

**How:** In Setup, find and select **Billing Settings**. Select an application order and an allocation rule and sequence. Then, turn on Rule-Based Credit and Payment Application.
