# Synthesize Speech with the Text To Speech Action (Beta)

You can now transform plain text to Base64-encoded audio string for alerts, accessibility features, guided experiences, and voice-enabled automation using the Text To Speech flow action. The action supports text input of up to 500 characters and generates spoken audio that can be used in downstream flow logic or custom playback scenarios. By using this action, you can generate speech directly within automations without configuring or managing external services. The action now supports outputting the generated audio as a file by using the new fileOutput parameter. This action is available in REST, Flow, and Apex.

**Where:** The Convert Text To Speech action is available in Flow Builder and can be added to autolaunched, record-triggered, and event-triggered flows.

**How:** In Flow Builder, add an Action element to your flow. In the Action field, search for convert text to speech, select the action, and provide the required input values such as input text, voice speed, voice stability, and voice ID. To generate the output as a file, set the fileOutput parameter to true.
