# Seeding and Anonymizing ServiceNow Data

The Seeding application copies selected ServiceNow tables from a production org or sandbox to a sandbox, supporting software development, QA, and training. The Anonymize application replaces data in sandbox table fields with alternate values to privatize original data and verify compliance with privacy laws and regulations.

The Seeding application provides you with the ability to copy tables of your choosing from a data source and populate them into a data destination from a production org or sandbox to a sandbox.

Being able to accurately and repeatedly seed necessary tables supports organizations' software product development, product QA, and product training. To learn more about Seeding application features and functionality, see [Seeding Data in ServiceNow](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.seeding_o_sn.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Seeding for ServiceNow allows you to populate data sets from a production, sub-prod, or personal developer instance. Protect personally identifiable and sensitive information when you seed anonymized data using custom templates. Build templates that define a subset of related data to extract from a source instance, and use those templates to quickly and repeatedly seed any existing sub-prod with an identical data structure. Save time by automating recurring and one-time seeding jobs. Make sure that specific destinations are fully seeded with required data, in advance of upcoming sprints and development projects.").

Own’s Anonymize application provides you with the ability to replace data existing in the (table) fields of a sandbox with alternate values. These new values make the original data private to avoid sharing personal information (PII), sensitive information, or classified information. By anonymizing the data that they work with, product development organizations preserve information privacy and, thereby, comply with national and international laws and regulations protecting PII exposure.

To learn more about Anonymize application features and functionality, see [Getting Started with Anonymize for ServiceNow](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.seeding_o_sn_anonymize.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Manage anonymization templates and apply them to ServiceNow data using Salesforce's Anonymize application. Use the application to anonymize ServiceNow data in seeding jobs to make sure that sensitive information is protected.").
