# Run a Seeding Job for ServiceNow

You can run the seeding job directly from the Template Builder of the template. If the Seed button isn't available in the Template Builder tab, contact your administrator to grant you the required permission.

Before executing a seeding job using your seeding template, create a ServiceNow sub-prod. Once your template is built, you can use it to seed another sub-prod.

1. In the Template Builder tab, click Seed.

The <template name> window opens and displays the General tab.
2. The Template Source, as defined in the seeding template being used for this seeding job, is the assigned Seeding Source.

The Seeding application retrieves real-time (Live) data from the seeding source
3. From the Destination field's drop-down list, select a destination service.

The Update Indexing section appears in the General tab.
4. From the Seeding Method field's drop-down list, select a seeding method:

    - Incremental:
        - Only non-existent records are seeded.
        - Previously seeded records are not updated.
        - Duplicates are not created.
    - Upsert:
        - Non-existing records are seeded.
        - Previously seeded records are updated.
        - Duplicates are not created.
5. In the Update Indexing section of the General tab, click Edit to open the Advanced tab (or, alternatively, just navigate to the Advanced tab).

If you manually changed, deleted, or added data to the selected destination service, since the last executed seeding job using that destination service, then the destination index must be updated.
6. In the Advanced tab's Update Indexing section, select one of the following options:

    - Do not update destination index (the default selection)
    - Update destination index - this option significantly increases the duration of seeding job processing
7. Click Seed.

This button is disabled if there is a currently executing seeding job that is using the selected destination.
8. The seeding process begins, and you are transferred to the Recent Seeds tab.

During the seeding job, the current table and the number of records for that table are displayed. You can view the total number of retrieved records that will be seeded.

Once the seeding job completes, the system automatically sends an email notification that informs about the seeding job's status. You can opt out of receiving these emails through your account settings.
