# Object Record Counts for Nodes Templates

Use the record count options in a Nodes template to control the amount of data seeded to your Salesforce sandbox.

## Record Count Options

A Nodes template provides three options for calculation of the number of records per object node (object record count).

- No record counts: Enabled by default for newly created Nodes templates. Each object node in the Template Builder tab displays the current limit of the number of records that can be retrieved for that object node, for example, No record limit or Limit: <n> (the default limit is 200 records).

The number of records that can be retrieved for an object node is set in the node's Filters dialog.
- Estimated record counts: provides for each object node in the Template Builder tab, an estimated count of the number of records per object node. The estimated count is based on real time querying of the live service that is defined in the Template Source field.

Selecting this option automatically initiates an estimated count.

Each update to an object node's limit of the number of records that can be retrieved, automatically initiates a re-estimated count of the number of records of that object node.
- Accurate record counts using backup: For each object node in the Template Builder tab, an accurate count of the number of records per object node is calculated. The count is always calculated using a backup of the service that is defined in the Template Source field. You select the backup version to be used.

Selecting this option automatically initiates an accurate count calculation.

Changing the current backup selection automatically initiates an update of the accurate count calculation.

You can also manually initiate an update of the accurate count calculation.

## Working with Object Record Counts in the Nodes Template Builder Tab

The Template Builder tab provides the following UI features that support working with object record counts:

In the Template Builder tab toolbar, click the three dots to open the Template Builder tab's context menu and select Record Counts. The Record Counts dialog opens.

When choosing the Accurate record counts using backup option, you must also select a backup version from the drop-down menu. The available backup version options from which to choose are:

- The Latest Backup (default selection): Retrieve the most recent (error-free) data backup of the service that is defined in the Template Source field.
- A Recent Backup: The Recent Backups section lists by <date> <time> all (error-free) data backups from the past 6 months that exist for the service that is defined in the Template Source field. You can select any one of these backups.

When an object node's existing record count changes, due to a recent application of filtering (as defined in the object node's Filters dialog), the ![Icon Node Record Count Inaccurate](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-platform-own_from_salesforce-264-0-0-production-enus/8ac98673-ede2-4046-a41e-2d5c846f24ff/own_from_salesforce/images/seeding_o_node_record_count_inaccurate.png) icon is displayed in the node. The icon appears as a reminder that the object node's existing record count is no longer accurate. Hovering over the icon displays a tooltip advising you to manually initiate an update of the accurate count calculation (in the Template Builder tab toolbar, click Recalculate).

Based on the option you selected and saved in the Record Counts dialog, the Template Builder tab toolbar provides:

- The object record count option currently in effect for the seeding template, either No record counts, Estimated record counts, or Accurate counts.
- For both Accurate counts and Estimated record counts, the date that the count of the number of records per object node was last calculated.
- For both Accurate counts and Estimated record counts, the Recalculate link.

Click the drop-down arrow next to Accurate counts to open a window. This window will show you the information about template objects that were found in or missing from the backup you chose to calculate accurate counts.

- Calculated (<n>) tab: Lists each template object found in the backup, which includes parent, root, and child objects, that contains at least one record. Per listed object, a count of the number of records, which would be seeded, is provided.

    ![Important](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-platform-own_from_salesforce-264-0-0-production-enus/8ac98673-ede2-4046-a41e-2d5c846f24ff/images/icon_important.png)

Important When an object appears multiple times in a template and there are overlapping records among these appearances, the overlapping records are counted only once when tallying the number of records for that object.
- Missing Objects (<n>): Lists any template objects that were missing from the backup. If there are missing objects that you want to include in a backup of the service in the UI, go to Backup > Backup Exclusions > Backup Exclusion Rules and remove any relevant, excluded objects. Then, perform a manual backup of that service. The resulting, latest (error-free) backup now includes those objects that were previously being excluded from the service's backup.

Whenever your action triggers the calculation/recalculation of accurate counts, for example, by selecting Accurate record counts using backup in the Record Counts dialog or by clicking Recalculate in the Template Builder tab toolbar, the UI temporarily overlays the Template Builder tab with the Calculation in Progress message. In the message, click X to stop the calculation/recalculation currently underway.

Note Navigating away from the Template Builder tab, while the calculation/recalculation is underway, doesn't stop calculation processing.
