# Configure the AWS Bucket

When on-boarding, the Adding the services button is disabled, until a valid bucket is configured.

The bucket is defined per account under Account Settings.

All backups for all services in this account are stored under the configured S3 bucket. The configured bucket can't be changed or modified. For backup continuity, the bucket must be accessible at all times.

1. Click the Set your AWS Bucket button. The BYOS AWS Bucket window opens.
2. Click Download to download the CloudFormation File.
3. Navigate to your AWS account, and then upload the CloudFormation File (from the same region as the Own instance).
    1. You can modify your bucket name and external ID.
    2. Click Next.
    3. Run the CloudFormation..
    4. Navigate to CloudFormation and retrieve the bucketName, External Id and the Role ARN.
4. Return to the application to set your AWS Bucket in the BYOS AWS Bucket window.
5. Enter the Bucket Name, Role ARN, and External ID.
6. Click Validate.
    1. If the validation failed - verify that the bucket policies did NOT change from the provided CloudFormation.
    2. If the validation succeeded, click Save.
7. Click Continue & Save.

The configuration is complete and appears in Account Settings.
