# Get Started as a Team Member in Lifecycle Center

- Confirm that your admin added you as a Lifecycle Center user and assigned the required permission sets.
- Confirm that you can access your team’s source control repository and log in with the account your team uses for Lifecycle Center.
- Review the source control documentation if you’re new to source control. If you plan to use GitHub, see [Trailhead: Git and GitHub Basics](https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/modules/git-and-git-hub-basics) and [Work with the GitHub Workflow](https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/modules/git-and-git-hub-basics/work-with-the-git-hub-workflow). See [Source Control Setup](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.devops_center_source_control_setup.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Lifecycle Center uses your source control as the single source of truth for all metadata and configuration data changes across your pipeline. A repository stores your project work files, including code, text, images, and so on.").

1. Log in to the org where the Lifecycle Center Admin has set up Lifecycle Center.

If needed, contact your Lifecycle Center Admin or Salesforce admin for org details and credentials.
2. From the App Launcher, open Lifecycle Center.
3. In Lifecycle Center, connect to your source control.
4. Click the **Projects** tab, then select the project assigned to you.

![The Projects tab and work item WI-000049 on the API Updates project record page.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-platform-devops_center-264-0-0-production-enus/166010c3-4c34-4087-92ad-aea917baf524/devops_center/images/next_gen_devops_center_project.png)
5. In the Work Items pane, click the ID of a work item assigned to you.
6. Review the work item details, such as the description, status, and the connected development environment.
7. (Optional) Manage your work items.
    - To track additional work, create a work item. See [Create and Assign Work Items](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.devops_center_create_assign_work_items.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use work items to track the progress of changes related to specific objectives, such as user stories or issue fixes. Work items help teams manage changes and releases by providing visibility into the status and progress of changes.").
    - To add details or update an assignment, update an existing work item.

Go to your development environment, connect to Lifecycle Center from DX Inspector, and start your work. Make your changes, review tracked metadata and data in DX Inspector, and commit the changes to the assigned work item.

- **[Manage Work Items](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.next_gen_devops_center_manage_work_items.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use work items to track the progress of changes created for a specific task, such as a user story, feature, or issue. Tracking releases through work items makes it easier to monitor progress and identify concerns.
