# Check Promotion Status and Deployment Details

## Check Promotion Status

After a promotion runs, check the pipeline stage for a success or failure message.

To review the promotion at the pipeline-stage level, use these options from the stage menu:

- Select **Open Environment** to open the target environment and validate the promoted changes.
- Select **View Branch in Source Control** to open the stage branch in source control and review its files.

To review the failure result for an individual work item in Approved Work Items, use these options:

- From the work item menu, select **Open Environment** to open the development environment associated with the work item.
- From the work item menu, select **View Change Request** to open the change request in source control and review the work item's changes.
- If Lifecycle Center couldn't deploy the work item, click **View Details** in the failure message to open Activity History and investigate the error.

In Activity History, review the promotion result, included work items, failure details, and completion date and time. See [View Pipeline Events in Activity History](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.devops_center_pipeline_activity_history.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "DevOps Center provides a comprehensive history of all key pipeline events, including promotions, synchronizations, and errors (failures). ## Review Deployment Details in Setup

If the failure message and Activity History don't provide enough information, review the deployment details in the target org.

1. In the target org, go to Setup.
2. In the Quick Find box, enter Deployment Status, and then select **Deployment Status**.
3. From the list of succeeded or failed deployments, find the deployment associated with the promotion.
4. Click **View Details** and review the deployed changes and error details.
5. To validate the changes in the target org, return to the pipeline stage menu and select **Open Environment**.

If the pipeline remains at initiating deployment, see [Troubleshoot a Stalled Promotion](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.devops_center_promotion_stalled.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "A promotion can stall while Lifecycle Center deploys changes to the target environment or merges changes into the target stage branch.
