# Create and Use Custom Scheduling Policies in Salesforce Scheduler

You can use one or more custom scheduling policies in Salesforce Scheduler flows or API calls. For example, you can create two scheduling policies with different appointment start time intervals. Then, customize your flow to invoke one or the other scheduling policy depending on the work type that users select when scheduling an appointment.

Note If you don’t create and use a custom scheduling policy in your flows or API calls, the Default Appointment Scheduling Policy is used.

1. Create a custom scheduling policy.
    1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Scheduling Policies, and then select **Scheduling Policies**.
    2. Click **New**.
    3. Enter a name for your custom scheduling policy and then select the rules that you want to include.

Note You must select an appointment start time interval and select either the Include Primary Service Territory Members or Include Secondary Service Territory Members option.
    4. Save your changes.
2. Associate the custom scheduling policy with a flow.

The scheduling policy is used when identifying the available service resources and their time slots and when creating the appointment record.

    1. Edit your Salesforce Scheduler flow.
    2. In Flow Builder, on the Manager tab, edit the SchedulingPolicyName variable, and set its default value to the developer name of your custom scheduling policy.
    3. Save your changes.
