Important Starting in Winter ’23, you can’t create new processes or workflow rules. You can still activate, deactivate, and edit any existing processes and workflow rules. To migrate existing processes or workflow rules, use the process in [Move Processes and Workflows to Flow Builder with the Migrate to Flow Tool](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.flow_migrate_to_flow.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use the Migrate to Flow tool to convert your Process Builder processes and workflow rules into Flow Builder, including scheduled actions. The tool also supports partial migration of processes for most actions."). For new automations, create flows in [Flow Builder](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.flow.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Automation reduces repetitive work and helps your team complete tasks faster and more accurately. With Flow Builder, you can build simple or complex automations, forms, and guided experiences with no code. You can add forms to Salesforce pages and Experience sites, and launch flows using buttons, record triggers, or schedules.").

- **[Switch to Flow Builder Learning Map](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.flow_migrate_to_flow_learning_map.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Flow Builder combines the capabilities of workflow rules and Process Builder in a single point-and-click tool, making it easier to create a triggered process. If you created triggered processes with workflow rules or Process Builder, use the Migrate to Flow tool to move them to Flow Builder. Start by migrating and testing in a sandbox environment before moving your new flows to production.
- **[Process Builder](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.process_overview.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Many of the tasks you assign, the emails you send, and other record updates are vital parts of your standard processes. Instead of doing this repetitive work manually, you can configure flows or processes to do it automatically. We strongly recommend using Flow Builder, but Process Builder can also help you automate your business processes and give you a graphical representation as you build it.
- **[Classic Approval Processes](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.what_are_approvals.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
It’s likely that you’re familiar with process automation in the form of workflow rules. Approval processes take automation one step further, letting you specify a sequence of steps that are required to approve a record.
- **[Workflow Rules](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.customize_wf.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Workflow rules are a legacy automation feature that let you define conditions and actions for records in your org. Support ended on December 31, 2025. Use Flow Builder for new automations and migrate existing rules as needed.
