3. In the Custom Promotion window, click **Prepare** for each work item you want to promote.

This action creates a branch and change request for your work items.

4. Click **Next**.
5. If Lifecycle Center detects no conflicts or shared components, select the changes and the Apex tests to run, then promote the changes.
6. If Lifecycle Center detects a dependency, select one of these options:
    - Combine work items: Lifecycle Center merges the identified work items in a dependency-safe order. See [Combine Work Items in Lifecycle Center](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.devops_center_combine_work_items.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use combine work items to prevent conflicts when promoting individual work items with custom promotion. When work items in a stage share metadata or depend on each other, promoting them individually results in conflicts or blocked promotions.").
    - Continue with custom promotion: Proceed with the current selection. This option may result in a conflict or failure that requires a manual fix in the source control repository. See [Review and Resolve Conflicts in Your Source Control](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.devops_center_promotion_resolve_conflicts_github.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "In cases where DevOps Center can’t combine work items or you choose not to combine, DevOps Center blocks the promotion. In this case, you manually edit the files directly in your source control to resolve the conflict in the affected branch.").
