Branch

A dedicated space in the repository for a specific set of changes. Lifecycle Center automatically creates a branch for each work item and pipeline.

Branch out of sync

Indicates that your work item branch no longer reflects the latest changes in its pipeline stage. Run a back sync to bring your development environment up to date.

Change request (pull request)

A request to merge changes from one branch into another, after a review or approval.

Commit

A snapshot of a change at a specific point in time. When you pull changes into a work item, DX Inspector commits them to the feature branch, and reflects the changes in Lifecycle Center.

Create review

A Lifecycle Center action that starts a review of your changes before promotion. Lifecycle Center creates a change request in the source control provider in the background.

Feature branch

The branch created for an individual work item. It holds the work item changes until you promote it to the next pipeline stage.

Main branch

The default repository branch that represents the current, approved state of your changes.

Merge

The process of combining the changes from one branch into another. Lifecycle Center performs a merge automatically when you promote a work item to the next pipeline stage.

Merge conflict

Occurs when two work items modify the same metadata component and the changes can’t be automatically reconciled. Lifecycle Center detects and shows these conflicts in the pipeline. You resolve merge conflicts using Agentforce, in the source control, or by combining work items.

Pull changes

A Lifecycle Center action that retrieves tracked changes from your development environment and saves them to the work item’s feature branch.

Rebase error

Occurs when the work item changes can’t be applied cleanly to a branch. This happens due to a dependency on other work items that you haven’t promoted yet. Lifecycle Center identifies dependent work items and provides options to combine them.

Repository

The storage location for your team’s changes and their history. Lifecycle Center automatically creates and manages your repository when you set up a project. You can also link your existing repository to a Lifecycle Center project.
