# Protect Your Data with Backup Services for ServiceNow

Safeguard your critical business information by adding a backup service to your account. After selecting a service type and completing the initial setup, backups run automatically to give you peace of mind knowing your data is secure and recoverable.

- OAuth setup is required in ServiceNow before adding a new service. See [Configure OAuth for ServiceNow](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.br_o_servicenow_config_oauth.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "ServiceNow provides an OAuth authorization code grant flow by using REST. This allows users to access resources by authenticating directly with an OAuth server, rather than authenticating with a username and password. We use this authorization code grant flow process when connecting between a ServiceNow instance and our services.").
- Make sure you are logged out of your cloud service provider.
- The first time you sign in to your Own account, you'll be prompted to add a backup service.

1. Go to the Backup tab and click New Service
2. Select the ServiceNow icon.
3. Enter the required fields:

    - Business Unit
    - ServiceNow Instance Name: Your ServiceNow base domain instance URL. For example: https://dev123.service-now.com
    - Client ID
    - Client Secret
4. Click Add Service.
