# Backup & Recover for Salesforce Troubleshooting

When a backup fails or behaves unexpectedly, use these topics to identify the cause and resolve it.

- [Back Up a Refreshed Salesforce Sandbox](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.backup_recover_o_reauthenticate_sandbox.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "When you refresh a Salesforce sandbox, create a backup service for it. The refresh assigns a new org ID, so the original service no longer connects to the sandbox."): A sandbox refresh assigns a new org ID, so the original service no longer connects. Create a service to back up the refreshed sandbox.
- [Reauthenticate After Salesforce Authenticated User Changes](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.backup_recover_o_reauthenticate_service.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "If you get a message about an inactive Authenticated User, a revoked token or an authentication error, you can restore access and functionality by reauthenticating the Salesforce Authenticated User."): Modifying the Authenticated User in Salesforce, such as renaming or changing the email address or domain, breaks the authentication connection and requires reauthentication to restore the backup service.
- [Understand Supported Salesforce Objects](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.backup_recover_o_objects_considerations.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Ensure your data is fully protected by reviewing which Salesforce objects are supported in backups. By default, backups include history, share, and feed objects. Configure backups to include knowledge articles or custom big objects."): Before you run your first backups, it’s important to understand what we automatically exclude and what configurations you can make to adjust accordingly.
- [Aborting a Running Salesforce Backup](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.backup_recover_o_abort_overview.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "If you discover errors during a Salesforce backup or want to modify the default options before the first backup is completed, you can stop a running backup."): Helpful when there’s an error in production data that was not previously discovered, there are other jobs running concurrently, a migration is occurring on your instance, or a user performed critical changes.
