# Back Up a Refreshed Salesforce Sandbox in Backup & Recover for Salesforce

When you refresh a Salesforce sandbox, create a backup service for it. The refresh assigns a new org ID, so the original service no longer connects to the sandbox.

When you refresh a sandbox in Salesforce, the refresh creates a sandbox with a new org ID. The original backup service keeps the old org ID, so it no longer connects to the refreshed sandbox. If you reauthenticate the original service, Backup & Recover returns the error The authorized Org is different from the service's Original Org. To back up the refreshed sandbox, create a service.

1. Refresh the sandbox in Salesforce.
2. In Backup & Recover, add a service for the refreshed sandbox.

Follow the steps in [Back Up Your Data with Backup & Recover for Salesforce](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.backup_recover_o_add_services.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Safeguard your critical business information by adding a backup service to your account. Each service you add can back up Salesforce production data, production metadata, sandbox data, or sandbox metadata. Backups then run automatically, securing your data so it can be recovered.") and select the Sandbox Data or Sandbox Metadata service type.
3. Archive the old service on the Options tab, under General.

Archiving the old service stops Backup & Recover from backing up the old service and generating errors.

This process applies only to sandbox environments.
