# Troubleshoot Approval Submissions

When an approval submission fails, the orchestration run associated with it fails and sends a fault email. To view details about a failed approval submission, use the orchestration run fault email.

- **[Debug a Flow Approval Process Without Changing Your Data](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_automated_approvals_troubleshoot_debug_flow_approval_process_rollback_mode.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Debug your flow approval process in Flow Builder to ensure that it runs as expected or to determine the cause of unexpected errors. Use rollback mode to debug your flow approval process without making changes to your Salesforce data.
- **[Debug a Flow Approval Process and Keep Data Changes](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_automated_approvals_troubleshoot_debug_flow_approval_process_default_mode.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Test and troubleshoot your flow approval process with database updates. Set a start point to skip earlier stages, an end point to stop before later stages, or both to isolate a middle segment. You can also set mock outputs for steps. A step that uses mock output doesn't run its referenced flow or make changes to the Salesforce database. You're the assigned user for all approval steps without defined mock output that meet their entry conditions.
- **[Emails About Flow Approval Process Errors](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_automated_approvals_troubleshoot_email.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
When an approval submission's orchestration run fails, Salesforce sends an error email. The email is sent to either the admin who last modified the associated flow approval process or the Apex exception email recipients.
