# Configure Multiple Flow Approval Processes for a Record Page

Add the Request Approvals component to a record page layout in Lightning App Builder. Configure up to 10 flow approval processes in the component so that submitters can select the process they prefer for submission. You can configure each flow approval process so that submitters can select an approver and add submission comments.

Before you add the Request Approvals component to a record page layout, design at least one autolaunched flow approval process. Consider the input that you want from submitters for each flow approval process. To require submitters to select an approver, assign one or more approval steps to the `firstApprover` resource. To expose optional submitter comments to approvers, use the `submissionComments` resource. Test and activate each flow approval process.

You can configure both active and inactive flow approval processes in this component. At run time, non-admin users see only active flow approval processes. Admin users can see and start all configured flow approval processes, including inactive ones.

If a flow approval process is deactivated after a user submits a record for approval, the submitting user and admin users can see the in-progress submission in the component. Other non-admin users don't see the in-progress submission. After the submission finishes, only admin users see the now-inactive flow approval process in the component.

Consider how record locking affects submitting a record for multiple approvals before configuring multiple flow approval processes in this component. See the Record Locking and the Request Approvals Component section in [Record Locking in Flow Approval Processes](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_automated_approvals_concept_record_locking.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Record locking controls who can change a record associated with an in-progress approval submission. The way you implement record locking depends on whether the approval steps in a flow approval process stage run consecutively or concurrently.").

1. Open the record page where you want to place the component.
2. On the navigation bar, click ![\[Gear icon\]](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-platform-platform_automation-264-0-0-production-enus/60568438-ec7e-4665-acd1-7c80dcbe60d5/platform_automation/images/gear.png), and select **Edit Page**.

The record page layout opens in Lightning App Builder.
3. From the Components tab, in the quick find box, search for Request Approvals.
4. Drag the **Request Approvals** to a location on the record page layout.

    The Request Approvals panel opens.
5. (Optional) For Title, change the default text of Request Approvals to the component title to show users at run time.
6. To add a flow approval process, click **\+ Add Flow Approval Process**.
    1. For Flow Approval Process, search for and select the autolaunched flow approval process to run when the user clicks Start.
    2. For Flow Approval Process Label, enter a label to identify the associated flow approval process to users.
    3. To prevent the submitter from adding comments about a submission, select **Hide submitter comments**. The component shows an Approval Request Comments field by default.
    4. To require the submitter to select an approver, select **Require submitter to select an approver**.

Consider whether the flow approval process you selected assigns one or more steps to the `firstApprover` resource. If it does, select **Require submitter to select an approver** to prevent the flow approval process from failing when a submitter uses this component.
    5. Click **Done**.
7. To add another flow approval process, repeat step 6.
8. (Optional) To edit a configured flow approval process, in the Request Approvals panel, click the process name. Click **Done** when you’re finished.
9. Save and activate the record page layout.
10. Exit Lightning App Builder.
