## At a Glance

Agentforce Operations transforms manual, error-prone business processes into automated workflows. You design the process one time as a blueprint, then run it as many times as needed. People complete tasks by using email, a web form, or the workspace. AI agents can handle specialized tasks automatically, with consistent and repeatable results.

For a deeper overview, see [About Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_about.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Agentforce Operations is a workflow automation platform where you design, run, and track structured business processes. Teams complete tasks by using email, a web form, or the workspace. AI agents can handle specialized tasks automatically.").

## Core Concepts

Agentforce Operations organizes work around five connected concepts.

Blueprint

The template that defines your process. A blueprint contains stages, tasks, and the fields that collect information. You build and configure it one time, then publish it when it's ready. See [Designing Automation Templates in Blueprints in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_blueprints.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Learn how blueprints work as reusable templates for automated workflows in Agentforce Operations.").

Workflow

A single run of a blueprint. Each time you start a workflow, it follows the blueprint's stages and tasks from beginning to end. See [Run and Manage Automated Workflows in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_working_with_workflows.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Workflows are the running instance of your process that move through stages and tasks until they complete. Most workflows run from blueprints, but you can also create them directly. Learn how workflows progress, how to track and edit them, who can access them, and how to pause or end them.").

Stages

Stages group related tasks within a blueprint. A stage becomes active based on its start condition. For example, at the start of the workflow, when a prior stage is complete, or when conditions you define are true. See [Stages in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_stages.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Stages organize the tasks in a blueprint into logical phases. Use stages to break a process into manageable milestones and control when each part of the workflow runs.").

Tasks

The individual units of work within a stage. You assign each task to a person, team, role, or AI agent, and each task activates based on its own start condition. See [Tasks in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_configure_tasks.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Tasks are the individual units of work in a blueprint. Configure tasks to collect the right information, route work to the right people, and shape how each step behaves at run time.").

Fields

How information moves through a workflow. You add fields to tasks to collect data from assignees and can use the field values later in the workflow. Fields can collect information such as a closing date, a PDF document, or an invoice amount. Also, you can export all task data collected in fields. Fields are reusable across blueprints. See [Collect Information from Users in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_fields_and_forms.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use fields and forms to request, collect, and pass information through tasks and workflows in Agentforce Operations.").

## How the Concepts Connect

You start by building a blueprint. You define the stages that structure the process, the tasks within each stage, and the fields that collect and share the information each task needs. When a task assignee completes a field, you can share that value with downstream tasks, so the information flows forward automatically, without requiring re-entry at each step.

After the blueprint is ready, you publish it and start a workflow. Each workflow is an independent run of that blueprint. For example, you can create a general process of hiring a new employee in the blueprint. Each workflow you run from it tracks a different employee through that process. Tasks activate in sequence based on their start conditions, assignees receive notifications, and fields capture results along the way.

For a full explanation, see [How Blueprints, Workflows, and Tasks Connect in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_blueprints_workflows_tasks.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "In Agentforce Operations, blueprints, workflows, stages, tasks, and fields each play a specific role and work together in a clear hierarchy to automate business processes. Understanding how they connect helps you plan your processes before you start building blueprints and running workflows.").

## Logging In for the First Time

Agentforce Operations is invite-only. When an admin adds you, you receive a Welcome email with an **Accept Invite** link. Click the link and follow the prompts to create a password. To log in after that, go to your workspace URL and enter your email and password.

Not everything requires logging in. You can complete tasks by email or web form without a workspace account. For details on access types and what to do if you can't find your invite, see [Logging In to Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_sign_in.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Log in to Agentforce Operations by using your invite email, and learn when you need to log in and when you don't need to log in.").

## Get Started Checklist

Here's what to do to get started.

1. Set up your workspace: Configure branding, business hours, and workspace-wide settings. See [Set Up Your Workspace in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_set_up_workspace.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "After you get access to your workspace, complete these setup steps to prepare Agentforce Operations for your team. Configure settings, add users, build a blueprint, and start your first workflow.").
2. Add users and teams: Invite the people who work in your workflows and assign them roles. See [Manage Users in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_managing_users.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Add users to your workspace, assign roles that control access, and manage user accounts. Users can be internal employees or external partners.").
3. Optionally, create fields: Build your reusable fields on the Fields page before you start building blueprints so they're ready to add to tasks. You can also create fields directly from within a task. See [Create Custom Fields in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_fields_create.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Create custom fields to collect information from users. You can create custom fields from the Fields page, a task, or the Form Builder.").
4. Optionally, connect data sources: If your workflows use external data, such as product catalogs or supplier lists, set them up on the Admin page before you build blueprints that reference them. See [Data Sources in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_data_sources.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Data sources are tables of structured reference data, such as supplier lists, customer catalogs, or parts databases. Admins import data sources into Agentforce Operations so users can look up and validate that data in workflows and tasks.").
5. Build a blueprint: Design your process with stages and tasks, add fields to collect information, configure assignees, and set start conditions.
6. Optionally, set up AI agents: Learn how AI agents work and configure them for tasks. See [Assigning Tasks to AI Agents in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_ai_agents_overview.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use AI agents in Agentforce Operations to complete specialized tasks with consistent inputs, repeatable results, and clear operational boundaries.").
7. Start a workflow: Publish your blueprint and run it for the first time.
