# Create an Automation Template with a Blueprint in Agentforce Operations

Use AI to generate a blueprint by describing your process and optionally uploading supporting documents. You can also build a blueprint from scratch or import one from another workspace. Anyone with the Creator role can generate blueprints in Agentforce Operations.

## Create a Blueprint with AI

Describe your process and optionally upload supporting documents to let AI create the stages and tasks for you. Agentforce Operations analyzes what you provide and generates a blueprint automatically.

1. Click **\+ Create**.
2. Click **Blueprint**.
3. Click **Generate with AI**.
4. Enter a name and select your industry.
5. Enter a description of your process.

The more detail that you provide, the better the generated blueprint. For example, enter When a new supplier is onboarded, collect their certifications, run a risk check, and get procurement approval.

If you're also uploading documents, a brief description is enough. If you're relying on the description alone, include the key stages, tasks, and decision points in your process.
6. Optionally, upload documents that illustrate your process, such as spreadsheets, flowcharts, or whiteboard photos.

Accepted formats: .pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .png, .jpg.
7. Review the AI-generated blueprint.
8. Customize the generated blueprint as needed.

Edit stages, tasks, assignments, or dependencies to refine the workflow template.

## Create a Blueprint from Scratch

Build a custom blueprint manually by defining stages and tasks yourself.

1. Click **\+ Create**.
2. Click **Blueprint**.
3. Click **From scratch**.
4. Enter a name for your blueprint.
5. Create a stage.

Stages group-related tasks together and help organize your workflow into logical phases.

    1. Click **\+ Add stage**.
    2. Enter a name for your stage.
    3. Select when you want the stage to start.
    4. If you select to have the stage start based on specific workflow conditions, click **\+ Add condition** and enter details for your condition.
    5. Click **Add stage**.

For more information about stages, see [Stages in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_stages.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Stages organize the tasks in a blueprint into logical phases. Use stages to break a process into manageable milestones and control when each part of the workflow runs.").
6. Add tasks to the stage.

Tasks are the main work units in a blueprint.

    1. Click **\+ Task**.
    2. For each task, specify the required information.

        - The task name
        - When to start the task
        - When the task is due
        - The person assigned to the task
        - A description of what to do for the task
        - Upload relevant documents
        - Share information to help the assignee complete the task
        - If you want the assignee to provide information, add fields to request information

For more information about configuring tasks, see [Tasks in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_configure_tasks.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Tasks are the individual units of work in a blueprint. Configure tasks to collect the right information, route work to the right people, and shape how each step behaves at run time.").
7. Add more stages and tasks as needed.

## Create a Blueprint by Importing a File

Import a blueprint from a file to bring a blueprint from another workspace or from an edited document into your workspace.

There are two file types supported to create a blueprint via import. If users and teams with access to the exported blueprint exist in your workspace, they also get access to the imported blueprint.

| File Type | Use When | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| .rex | Importing a blueprint from another workspace | DocuSign, SharePoint, and Box integrations don't transfer. |
| .docx | Importing a blueprint from an externally edited document |   |

After you upload the file, you map the fields, roles, data sources, linked workflows, and custom HTTP automation tasks used in the blueprint.

1. Click **\+ Create**.
2. Click **Blueprint**.
3. Click **Import from another workspace**.
4. Upload the file and click **Continue**.
5. In the **Roles and fields** step, map the blueprint's fields and roles to your workspace.
    1. Review the **Mapped** section, which lists fields and roles with exact matches in your workspace.
    2. In the **Needs review** section, review fields that match by name and type but have different configurations. Each field shows a **Create** or **Update** badge indicating the action that the import plans to take. To map a field to a different field in your workspace instead, select it from the dropdown.
    3. Click **Continue**.
6. If the blueprint contains linked blueprints, in the **Linked workflows** step, review each linked blueprint listed under **Needs review**.
    1. To map the linked blueprint to an existing blueprint in your workspace, select it from the dropdown.
    2. To create a blueprint in your workspace on import, keep the **Create** badge selected.
    3. Click **Continue**.
7. If the blueprint contains custom HTTP automation tasks, in the **Automations** step, review each HTTP automation configuration listed in the **Needs review** section.
    1. To map the automation to an existing automation in your workspace, select it from the dropdown.
    2. To remove the automation from the blueprint on import, select **Remove**.
    3. Click **Continue**.
8. In the **Review** step, review the summary of changes that Agentforce Operations plans to make to the blueprint on import. Click **Continue**.
9. Click **Finish**.

    The draft blueprint opens.

## Duplicate a Published Blueprint

Create a copy of a published blueprint to use as a starting point for a new blueprint.

You can only duplicate published blueprints. Draft blueprints can't be duplicated.

1. In the navigation sidebar, click **Blueprints**.
2. On a published blueprint, click the three-dot dropdown list.
3. Click **Duplicate**.

Agentforce Operations adds a copy of the blueprint to your draft blueprints.

## Test and Publish a Blueprint

Now that you have a blueprint ready, test it to make sure that it works as expected. If the blueprint runs correctly, you can create and start a workflow from it. To share the blueprint with others, publish the blueprint.

1. Create and start a test workflow by using sample data. Learn more in [Creating and Starting a Workflow in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_start_workflow.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Create a workflow from a blueprint, bulk-start many workflows from a CSV file, or start a workflow by sending an email to begin automating your business process.").

Test thoroughly to ensure your blueprint works as expected:

    - Test all possible paths through the workflow, including conditional branches and approval scenarios.
    - If your blueprint has variants, test each variant by entering data that matches different variant conditions.
    - If your blueprint includes linked workflows, verify that child workflows are created correctly and that data passes between workflows as expected.
    - If your blueprint includes AI agent tasks, test that agents generate appropriate plans and complete tasks correctly.
    - Verify task assignments, due dates, and notifications work correctly.
2. If the workflow doesn't run correctly, modify the blueprint as needed.
3. If the workflow runs correctly, go to the next step.
4. In the Settings tab, configure any necessary blueprint settings.
5. [Publish the blueprint](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_blueprints_publish.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Publish a blueprint to make it available for others to use in Agentforce Operations.").

Note Blueprints have limits on the number of tasks, fields, and form items they can contain. If your blueprint exceeds a limit, you can't publish it until you resolve the issue. If your blueprint is too large, consider splitting it across linked blueprints. See [Blueprint Limits in Agentforce Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.automate_afsc_blueprint_limits.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Blueprints have limits on the number of tasks, fields, and form items they can contain. These limits help you avoid the performance issues that come with oversized blueprints.").
