# Tabular Agent in Agentforce Operations

Use the Tabular agent to work with tables, line items, and spreadsheets in Agentforce Operations.

## When to Use the Tabular Agent

Use for tasks that require more complex calculations or reasoning. The Tabular Agent is an expert at manipulating tabular data. It writes and runs SQL queries, which makes it powerful and flexible for filtering, joining, aggregating, and comparing tables.

For tasks that use Excel spreadsheet formulas to process data, use the Excel Agent instead. Upload a spreadsheet to drive formula-based calculations, or pass CSV files for row-level operations across tabular data."). For tasks that require Python-based calculations, use the Generalist Agent instead. Note The Tabular Agent can't create tables from scratch. To create or extract a table, create another task that uses the appropriate agent, for example, the Document Agent or the Regrello Agent, and then pass the table to the Tabular Agent.

| Filter tables | Select rows based on one or more conditions. | Find parts where the country of origin isn’t USA. |
| Add calculated columns | Create a column by applying formulas to existing columns. | Add a `Total` column that use `Total = Quantity * Unit Price`. |
| Sum up columns | Compute totals or subtotals for numeric columns. | Calculate subtotal by summing the Total column from line items. |
| Combine tables | Merge two or more tables that use SQL joins on shared keys. | Join Item list and Tariff rates on `hs_code` to add a `tariff_rate` column to each item row. |
| Compare tables | Identify differences across two versions or related tables. | Find rows where invoice price doesn't match contract price by Product ID. |
| Aggregate data | Group rows and perform aggregate calculations. | Group by Category and compute the total Amount for each category. |
