Note This content relates to Archive. For Salesforce Archive, see [Store Data Externally with Salesforce Archive](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.archive_overview.htm&type=5&language=en_US).

Use Storage Analyzer to identify which objects consume the most storage space and create targeted archive policies based on the analysis. This visual dashboard helps you prioritize archiving efforts by showing storage trends and usage patterns.

Important The Archive Analyzer permission set grants the ability to create, edit, and delete archive policies from the Storage Analyzer workflow.

The Storage Analyzer dashboard shows the following information.

- Total consumption for data and file storage
- Top five objects by record count in descending order
- Quarterly storage usage history

To access the Storage Analyzer dashboard:

1. At the top-right of the Home Page, click **Storage Analyzer**.

For first-time users, the Storage Analyzer is empty.
2. To see your org analysis, click **Analyze**.

    A confirmation message appears.
3. Select the object that you want to analyze.

The dashboard shows a quarterly analysis of the selected object.
4. To continue with the policy wizard, click **Next**.

The analysis chart shows the last modified date.

Green bars show data that meets the policy criteria and is scheduled for archiving.

Blue bars, or purple for files, show data that doesn't meet the criteria and remains in Salesforce.
5. Enter a policy name.
6. To turn on an active running policy, change **Set Policy** value to `Active`.
7. Enter the number of years or quarters to view.
8. Select **Date Category**.
9. To add second- and third-layer filters for specific objects, such as Case, EmailMessage, Lead, Opportunity, Task, and so on, click **+Add Condition**.
10. Select whether to include ContentDocuments.

If you include ContentDocuments, a warning appears.
11. To continue, click **Accept**.

    The Policy Summary appears.
12. To change a parameter, click **Advanced**.
13. Review the summary.
14. Click **Save & Close**.

The policy is saved and appears in the Policies list. If you set the policy to Active, Archive automatically runs the policy based on the configured schedule.
