# Exporting and Importing Anonymization Templates for Salesforce

The Anonymize application provides you with the capability to export and import anonymization templates.

## Exporting Anonymization Templates

Exporting anonymization templates facilitates the review and quality assurance of your organization's data anonymization processes. It also supports auditing of your organization's data environment management and security practices. Finally, it enables the sharing of your organization's anonymization templates with other departments.

Exported file type: .obt

Exported file name format: Anonymize\_Template\_<template name>\_<export date-time>.obt

For each anonymized object, the data exports for each of its anonymized fields:

- Field Name
- Field Value
- Data Sensitivity Level
- Compliance Categorization Level
- Replacement Value - when a field’s replacement value is Custom…, the export also provides the pattern categories for customizing the replacement value. For example, Number Range, List, Free Text, Predefined List.

Fields with the replacement value Skip aren't exported.

Object record filters that are defined in an anonymization template aren't included in the export of that template.

When a template is in view-only mode in the My Templates page, the Export option is available from the template's context menu.

## Importing Anonymization Templates

Importing anonymization templates facilitates data anonymization review and quality assurance across organizations, and enables the use of anonymization templates from other departments for internal organizational tasks.

The application doesn't support importing anonymization templates that were exported (.obt file type) before 10 November 2024. You must first re-export these previously exported anonymization templates, in order to then import them.

When a template is in Edit mode in the My Templates page, the Import option is available from the template's context menu. The imported anonymization template's content entirely replaces the content of the anonymization template that is currently in Edit mode.

## Export an Anonymization Template for Salesforce

You can download a defined anonymization template to your local workstation.

1. In the Anonymize tab in the Templates tab, select the anonymization template that you want to export. The selected anonymization template displays in the My Templates page.
2. Click the three dots, which is located on the far right side of the toolbar containing the Search for field and the Show field. A menu displays the available action Export.
3. Click Export. The anonymization template is immediately downloaded to your local machine.

## Import an Anonymization Template

You can replace the content of the anonymization template that is in Edit mode with all the content of an anonymization template from your local machine.

1. With an anonymization template in view-only mode in the My Templates page, click Edit. The template is placed into Edit mode.
2. Click the three dots located on the far right side of the toolbar containing the Search for field and the Show field. A menu displays listing the available action Import.
3. Click Import. The UI displays a confirmation dialog that presents you with the following question:
    
    Are you sure you want to import and replace the current template?
4. Click Import.
5. On your local machine, navigate to the appropriate folder and select the relevant anonymization template .obt file to import, one having the file name format of Anonymize\_Template\_<template name>\_<export date-time>.obt, for example, Anonymize\_Template\_personnelEast\_Nov-17-2024-02-37-PM.obt. After some processing time, the UI re-displays the My Templates page. All content that is the anonymized objects and their fields and Replace with values, of the anonymization template in Edit mode is now replaced with all the content of the imported anonymization template. The import process does not replace the Based on service and the Locale of the anonymization template in Edit mode.
6. Click Save.

You can also click Cancel to close the dialog, and return to My templates.
