# Prevent a Prospect from Syncing with Salesforce

You have a few options for keeping a prospect from syncing with Salesforce.

If Salesforce doesn’t have a record with the same email address as the prospect record, don’t assign the prospect in Account Engagement. Unassigned prospects don’t sync when there isn’t a matching record in Salesforce.

To stop prospect records from syncing with Salesforce records that have a matching email address, disable CRM syncing. To disable CRM syncing for an individual prospect, navigate to the prospect’s record and click **Disable CRM Syncing**. To disable CRM syncing for multiple prospects, set up an automation rule that targets the prospects, and select the **Do not sync with CRM** action.

Disabling syncing sets the prospect’s CRM lead or contact ID to \[\[crm\_ignore\_prospect\]\]. Prospects with disabled CRM syncing have a gray exclamation icon next to their name on the prospect record.
