# Configure Cookie Duration

To limit the number of days Account Engagement stores a customer cookie, you can adjust the duration of visitor\_id and pi\_opt\_in tracking. The default duration is set to 365 days.

### Required Editions

1. Open the settings for your business unit.
    - In Account Engagement, click ![gear icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-mktg-pardot-264-0-0-production-enus/5fef4d4f-9a34-45c6-8cd3-e3200b9eeba8/pardot/images/pardot_settings_icon.png) and then select **Settings**.
    - In the Lightning app, select **Account Engagement Settings**.
2. For Max Tracking Cookie Duration (days), enter the number of days that you want the cookies to persist.
3. Save your changes.

When visitors and prospects visit a page with your tracking code, their existing cookies are updated to the new duration.
