# Marketing Tactics in Marketing Planning and Operations

Build and manage the marketing tactics that deliver your campaigns and programs. Create tactics, link their content, add tasks, submit them for approval, and reuse proven tactics as templates.

- **[About Marketing Tactics in Marketing Planning and Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_pln_oper_tactics_about.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
A marketing tactic is the execution work that delivers a campaign or program: a specific email, a paid social ad, or a landing page. Unlike a campaign, which is the effort you plan and track, a tactic is the individual piece of work that carries it out. Each tactic gathers the content that runs it from Salesforce CMS and tracks its own progress from draft to complete.
- **[How Marketing Tactics Are Reviewed and Approved in Marketing Planning and Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_pln_oper_tactics_review_approval.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Before a marketing tactic goes live, it clears two separate checks: a compliance review and an approval. The compliance review checks the work against brand, regulatory, and policy standards, and the approval routes the work to a person for sign-off. These two checks are independent, so one doesn't stand in for the other. A tactic can pass one while the other is still open.
- **[Reuse Marketing Tactics with Templates in Marketing Planning and Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_pln_oper_tactics_templates.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
A marketing tactic template is a reusable snapshot of a proven tactic. Teams publish a tactic as a template and build new tactics from it, so recurring work stays fast and consistent.
- **[Create a Marketing Tactic in Marketing Planning and Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_pln_oper_tactics_create.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Campaign and marketing managers create a tactic under a program or campaign to organize the content and channels that deliver the work. Build a tactic from scratch, or start from a template to reuse a proven setup.
- **[Link Content to a Marketing Tactic in Marketing Planning and Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_pln_oper_tactics_link_content.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Campaign and marketing managers link Salesforce CMS content to a tactic, such as the creative for a paid social ad. The content then lives in one place with the tactic.
- **[Tasks on a Marketing Tactic in Marketing Planning and Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_pln_oper_tactics_add_task.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Campaign and marketing managers add tasks to a tactic to assign the work across the team and track everyone's progress in one place.
- **[Submit or Recall a Marketing Tactic for Approval in Marketing Planning and Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_pln_oper_tactics_submit_approval.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Campaign and marketing managers submit a tactic for approval to route it to a reviewer for sign-off before it goes live. They can recall a submission while it's still pending.
- **[Create a Marketing Tactic Template in Marketing Planning and Operations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_pln_oper_tactics_create_template.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Campaign and marketing managers turn a proven tactic into a reusable template so recurring program and campaign work starts from the same tested setup.
