# Example: Track Delivered Emails for a Campaign Goal in Marketing Planning and Operations

The marketing team at Northern Trail Outfitters (NTO) sets a goal on an email campaign to deliver 50,000 marketing emails. They want the goal to track delivered emails automatically, without manual updates. Because the email data in Marketing Intelligence already includes the campaign, the admin creates one metric that counts delivered emails. Use this example when your metric's data already stores the campaign.

1. Confirm that your metric's data object already stores the campaign.

For example, the Bulk Email Message data object in the Marketing Intelligence semantic model already includes a campaign field, so you're ready to use it. To see which data objects connect to a campaign, see [Unified Marketing Intelligence Semantic Data Model](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_mi_unified_semantic_data_model.htm&language=en_US).
2. Create a metric on that data object for the result your goal tracks.

For this goal, create a metric on Bulk Email Message that counts delivered marketing emails. See [Create a Metric for a Semantic Model in Data 360](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.c360_a_sl_metrics_create.htm&language=en_US).
3. Include a time dimension on the metric so that each linked goal pulls its actual within the goal's start and end dates.

For example, base the metric on the send date so that a campaign goal running from January 1 to March 31 counts the emails delivered that quarter.
