# Send an Email with an Approved Distributed Marketing Template

To create and send compliant Distributed Marketing and Alerts messages, choose a template or load a previously sent version, personalize with approved content, preview, and schedule or send immediately.

[View supported editions](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_editions.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Marketing Cloud Next is available in Growth and Advanced editions, and requires Salesforce Enterprise or Unlimited editions. Some features are limited by edition or purchased add-on. All functionality is available in Lightning Experience only.").

[View required permissions](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_dma_permissions.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Assign the required permissions for creating email templates and sending Distributed Marketing and Alerts messages.").

You can create and send a Distributed Marketing and Alerts message from multiple places:

- A lead, contact, prospect, person account, or campaign record
- A lead, contact, prospect, or person account list view
- A Campaign Members related list
- An actionable list

Your marketing administrator can even configure a custom Lightning Web Component that opens the Distributed Marketing and Alerts window from anywhere in Salesforce.

After you open the window, follow these steps to personalize and send a message.

1. Select the campaign that includes the template that you want to use.
2. Open the default version of a message or the last sent version.
3. Edit unlocked sections or choose from the available marketing-approved content.

A marketing admin can lock email settings such as global styles, layouts, or personalization data sources in templates to ensure brand consistency. If you’re unable to edit a message, contact your admin for help.
4. Select a recipient to preview your email and its merge fields.
5. Select a From and Reply to address.

To send on behalf of another user, select their specific email address.
6. Schedule the message or send it immediately.

To send another message without reconfiguring it, open the last sent version. See your created content stored in a dedicated Distributed Marketing Messages folder in your content management system (CMS).

## Unschedule an Email

Unscheduling an email cancels it, so it isn't sent. If the email was scheduled with other emails in a campaign, unscheduling it also cancels those emails.

1. From App Launcher, find and select **List Emails**.
2. From the dropdown for the email that you want to cancel, select **Unschedule**.
3. Confirm that you want to unschedule.

To send the email on a new schedule, recreate it.
