# Use Actionable Lists in Marketing Cloud Next

An actionable list is a fixed collection of audience members. Static lists are ideal for quickly reaching a specific set of known individuals, such as people who subscribed to emails at a trade show. Create and manage lists from the Actionable Lists tab. You can also create a list from a campaign, or add people to a new or existing list when you import lead or contact records.

          </tr>
        </tbody>

Before you create an actionable list, review these considerations:

- A list can contain leads or contacts, but not both.
- Actionable lists are fixed and don’t update based on data. To make changes to a list, manually update it or configure a flow to update the list. For example, update a list based on a record change or form submission.
- By default, only a list’s creator can add or remove members from a list. To grant access to more users, update the list's sharing settings.

## Create an Empty List

Create a list that you can add to later.

1. From the Actionable Lists tab, click **New**.
2. Enter a name for the list and select a member type.
3. Click **Create List**.

## Import a List from the Actionable Lists Tab or a Campaign

To create a list of leads or contacts, import a list of records on the Actionable Lists tab or from a campaign record.

1. Create a list.
    1. From the Actionable Lists tab, click **Import**.
    2. From a campaign record, open the flow summary for a list-triggered flow. Then, in the Start section, click the dropdown and select **Create List**.
2. Enter a name for the list and select a member type.
3. Click **Next**.
4. Select **Import from File**, and then click **Next**.
5. Upload a CSV file, and then click **Next**.
6. Review the field matching and make any necessary changes.
7. When you’re done, click **Start Import**.

After the import completes, the list creator receives a notification in Salesforce and a confirmation email.

## Create or Update a List from the Leads or Contacts Tab

As part of a lead or contact import, add the imported records to an actionable list.

1. From the Leads or Contacts tab, click **Import**.
2. Select **Import from File**, and then click **Next**.
3. Upload a CSV file, select **Add to Actionable List**, and then click **Next**.
4. Select an existing actionable list, or click **New** to create a list. If you’re creating a list, enter a name for the list.
5. Click **Next**.
6. Review the field matching and make any necessary changes.
7. When you’re done, click **Start Import**.

After the import completes, the list creator receives a notification in Salesforce and a confirmation email.

## Manually Update an Actionable List

Update an existing list with a list import, or add or remove members manually. You can remove list members from the Members tab on the list record. To add members to a list manually, select members on the Leads or Contacts tab and then select **Add to Actionable List**.

## Update Sharing Settings for an Actionable List

By default, only the list creator can update an actionable list. To grant access to more team members, update the sharing settings from the actionable list record.

1. From the Actionable Lists tab, open a list record.
2. Click **Sharing**.
3. Search for and select the users you want to grant access to.
4. Update the access level, and then save your work.
