# Hard Bounce Management

Salesforce marketing apps automatically suppress hard bounces to prevent sends to invalid addresses. Although suppression protects your sender reputation while retaining the record data for reporting and analytics, it's not intended to replace long-term data hygiene. Plan to remove hard-bounced email addresses from your data regularly.

## Automate Recurring Tasks

Because the platforms handle suppression automatically, they don't include native reminder features specifically for deleting hard bounces. However, you can configure automations or recurring tasks to review, manage, or delete these records.

Each Salesforce Marketing app product handles removals and reminders differently, review the specific implementation documentation for your product.

- Marketing Cloud Next:
    - Removal: Use a flow or segment to identify individual records with permanent hard bounces. You can remove or update these records using standard Salesforce data management tools (such as Data Loader).
    - Reminders: Schedule a flow to send a custom notification or create a recurring task that reminds users to review the bounce data. [Developer: Email Engagement DMO](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/data/data-cloud-dmo-mapping/guide/c360dm-email-engagement-dmo.html)
- Marketing Cloud Account Engagement:
    - Removal: Create a Dynamic List that filters for prospects with a hard bounce or an Undeliverable status. From this list, you can manually select the prospects and use the mass delete action to send them to the Recycle Bin.[Delete or Undelete Prospects](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.pardot_deleting_prospects.htm&type=5&language=en_US)
    - Reminders: To remind your team to review and clear this list, create a recurring Salesforce Task assigned to the appropriate user or queue.[Enable Recurring Tasks](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sales.tasks_enable_recurring_tasks.htm&type=5&language=en_US)
- Marketing Cloud Engagement:
    - Removal: To permanently delete bounced contacts, create a Query Activity in Automation Studio that identifies subscribers with a Bounced status. - Reminders: Schedule a reminder notification with Automation Studio. Include an email alert to notify an administrator when the cleanup process is done.[Schedule an Automation](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_as_schedule_an_automation.htm&type=5&language=en_US)
