# Comply with Privacy Regulations

Stay in compliance with privacy and consent regulations that apply to your business with consent management tools in Marketing Cloud Next. Use the default marketing communication subscription to collect and track consent data, or create your own custom subscriptions. Built-in preference pages make it easy for subscribers to manage their own communication preferences.

- **[Understanding Consent Concepts in Marketing Cloud Next](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_consent_tools_ref.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Review the tools and concepts that can help you collect and store consent data. You can collect consent for multiple engagement channels with communication subscriptions. Email is included with Marketing Cloud Next and all other channels are available as paid add-ons.
- **[Considerations for Managing Marketing Consent Data](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_consent_considerations.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
When working with consent management tools in Marketing Cloud Next, keep these considerations in mind.
- **[Create a Communication Subscription in Marketing Cloud Next](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_consent_comm_sub_create.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Create a communication subscription for each category of marketing content that you send, such as product updates. For each subscription that you create, add marketing channels, such as email, SMS, and RCS. Subscribers must give consent to receive promotional messages from each channel type.
- **[Preference Pages in Marketing Cloud Next](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_consent_preference_pages_parent.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
A preference page is a web page where your customers opt in or out of marketing messages. You control the look and feel of each page, decide which subscriptions appear, and add or remove subscriptions as needed. Marketing Cloud Next includes a customizable email preference page, and you can create custom pages for any marketing channel. Each page is personalized for the recipient and retains their contact point and subscription preferences.
- **[Formatting Marketing Consent Import Files](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_consent_import_format.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Before you import consent data into Marketing Cloud Next, make sure that your import file is saved as a CSV and that the columns and values are formatted correctly.
