## Copy Existing Marketing Cloud Engagement Users

To quickly create user accounts in Marketing Cloud Next, duplicate existing user accounts from Marketing Cloud Engagement. When you create user accounts in this way, the new accounts are preconfigured with the permissions necessary to start using Marketing Cloud Next.

Note To create accounts for users that don’t exist in your Marketing Cloud Engagement account, complete the steps in [Create Users](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mke_configure_user_access.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Salesforce accounts are different from Marketing Cloud Engagement accounts, so you need to create Salesforce accounts for your marketing users.") and [Assign User Permissions](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mke_configure_user_access.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "After you create Salesforce accounts for your marketing users, assign permission sets to them. Permission sets help you quickly assign a predefined set of permissions to a group of users based on the specific jobs those users need to complete.").

1. In Marketing Cloud Engagement Setup, go to **Administration** | **Users**.
2. Select the user accounts to duplicate, and then click **Add to MC Next**.
3. Verify the list of selected users, and confirm their usernames in the MC Next Username column.
4. For Core Org, select the Salesforce org that contains the Marketing Cloud Next account you want to add the users to.
5. Save your changes.

After you save your changes, Marketing Cloud Engagement sends a request to create the selected user accounts in Marketing Cloud Next. The Status column in the resulting table indicates whether the user accounts were created successfully.

You can resolve some account creation failures from directly within the table. For example, if you see a `DUPLICATE_USER` error, change the value in the MC Next Username column to a unique value, and then save your changes. For issues related to Data 360, see [Set Up a Marketing Cloud Engagement Connection in Data 360](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=data.c360_a_set_up_marketing_cloud_connection.htm&language=en_US).

After you create a user, the user receives an email requesting that they set their password. This new password applies only to the user’s Marketing Cloud Next login, not their Marketing Cloud Engagement login.

## Create Users

Salesforce accounts are different from Marketing Cloud Engagement accounts, so you need to create Salesforce accounts for your marketing users.

1. In Setup, go to **Marketing Cloud** | **Assisted Setup** | **User Access**.
2. In the Invite Users section, click **Go to Users**.
3. Click **Add Multiple Users**.
4. For User License, select **Identity**.
5. For each user you want to add, specify a first name, last name, email address, and profile.
6. Select **Generate passwords and notify user via email**.
7. To create more users, click **Add More Users**, and then provide the information for the additional users.
8. Save your changes.

## Assign User Permissions

After you create Salesforce accounts for your marketing users, assign permission sets to them. Permission sets help you quickly assign a predefined set of permissions to a group of users based on the specific jobs those users need to complete.

We recommend that you set up users with the Marketing Cloud Manager, Data Cloud Architect, and Tableau Next Included App Business User permission sets. For more information about these permission sets, see [User Permissions in Marketing Cloud Next](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mktg_admin_permissions_ref.htm&language=en_US).

1. In Setup, go to **Users** | **Permission Sets**.
2. Assign Marketing Cloud Manager permissions.
    1. From the list of permission sets, select **Marketing Cloud Manager**.
    2. Click **Manage Assignments**.
    3. Click **Add Assignment**.
    4. In the list of users, select the users to assign permissions to.
    5. Click **Assign**.
    6. Click **Done**.
3. Assign Data Cloud Architect permissions.
    1. From the list of permission sets, select **Data Cloud Architect**.
    2. Click Manage Assignments.
    3. Click **Add Assignment**.
    4. From the list of users, select the users to assign permissions to.
    5. Click **Assign**.
    6. Click **Done**.
4. Assign Tableau Next Included App Business User permissions.
    1. From the list of permission sets, select **Tableau Next Included App Business User**.
    2. Click **Manage Assignments**.
    3. Click **Add Assignment**.
    4. In the list of users, select the users to assign permissions to.
    5. Click **Assign**.
    6. Click **Done**.

## Select Default Tabs for a User

After you assign user permissions, ask your users to log in to Marketing Cloud Next and confirm that they can access the tabs that they need to do their work. For example, a marketer who creates and views reports needs access to the Marketing Performance and Analytics tabs. A marketer who manages segments and content needs access to the Content and Segments tabs. Users can complete these steps to add tabs that aren’t yet visible to them.

If you’re a marketer, consider adding some or all of these tabs:

- Activations
- Analytics
- Briefs
- Campaigns
- Consent
- Contacts
- Content
- Engagement Signals
- Flows
- Marketing Calendar
- Marketing Performance
- Segments

If you’re a Marketing Cloud Admin, consider adding these tabs:

- Activations
- Activation Targets
- Analytics
- Briefs
- Campaigns
- Consent
- Contacts
- Content
- Data Actions
- Data Action Targets
- Data Graphs
- Data Model
- Data Spaces
- Data Streams
- Engagement Signals
- Flows
- Identity Resolution
- Marketing Calendar
- Marketing Performance
- Calculated Insights
- Data Transforms
- Profile Explorer
- Query Editor
- Segments
